25/08/2008

PRISTINA, Kosovo -- The interior ministry and the Kosovo Police Service (KPS) are preparing a plan for the return of Serb policemen to the jobs they left in February following Kosovo's declaration of independence. Interior Minister Zenun Pajaziti said on Sunday (August 24th) that UNMIK is also working on the issue "and with its support, we will make progress on the matter". Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuci also appealed to Serb KPS officers to resume their duties.

In other news, six employees of the Kosovo Railways suffered injuries on Sunday in an incident near the central town of Glogovac. Their train, which was transporting sand, slipped from the tracks while en route from Pristina to Peja. (Zeri, Express, Koha Ditore, Lajm - 25/08/08; RTK, KTV - 24/08/08)
